Our staff here at The Washington Most is comprised of the most talented upcoming reporters out of Professor Adams’ 2019 reporting class. Read their bios, and get in touch with them– or don’t, they’re probably busy editing an article.
SOPHIE AUSTIN
Sophie Austin is a sophomore journalism major minoring in Spanish and Environmental Science. She interns at The DC Line, a non-profit organization that covers local news, as an environmental writer. She is from Cincinnati. She likes to run on the National Mall. Oranges are her favorite food because they are the perfect snack to allow you to take a break from your day and have a conversation with someone.
SHANNON DURAZO
Shannon Durazo is a junior-ish and journalism major, with a minor in WGSS. She loves audio journalism just as much as she loves music and guacamole. She’ll write about anything and everything, but has a particular affinity for arts and culture stories. In her free time she likes to drink coffee and spend money she doesn’t have on records and t-shirts.
TOMMY FURLONG

Coming from Newburyport Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, Tommy Furlong is a sophomore at American University studying journalism. He is an avid Boston sports fan who probably spends a little too much time and energy watching games. His hometown also gave him not only a love for the greatest sports city ever, but also the beach. Today, he is driven to find his place in journalism, unsure whether to pursue his interests in politics or music, or fall back onto sports.
NICOLE VIA Y RADA

Nicole Via y Rada is a junior majoring in journalism with a minor in political science. She’s from south Florida and constantly misses the grueling heat and sunshine. When she’s not in class or running to Panhellenic meetings, she’s outside the Dav — dirty chai in tow. She enjoys cooking, writing, and yoga. Nicole hopes to work in broadcasting as a local news reporter.
BRAEDEN WADDELL

Avid train enthusiast and aspiring podcast producer, Braeden Waddell is excited to finish his sophomore year at American University. He listens to podcasts at all moments of the day, and also loves indie rock music and audiobooks– his favorite podcast (at the moment) is Reply All. He is interested in working as an investigative reporter after graduation.
